Frequently Asked Questions
Do you report my results to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)?
No documentation needs to be sent to LARA, the Bureau of Construction Codes or the Residential Builders’ and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors’ Board. You will state that you have fulfilled the continuing competency requirement at the time of license renewal. You should keep your certificates of completion for at least 5 years, as they may be requested if you are selected for an audit.
Do you offer the mandatory 3 continuing education hours for Michigan?
Yes, we offer the mandatory 3 hours. Our course “MI 3 Hour CE: Code, Law, Safety” is fully approved by LARA.
Do you offer any prelicensure education?
YES! We have a LARA approved 60 hour prelicensure course. You can find it here.
Do you offer any training that is not online?
We do not offer any classroom courses for MI contractors. We find that most students prefer to complete their education online on their computer, smartphone, or tablet.
Do you provide me with a certificate of completion when I finish each course?
Yes, all graduates of our Michigan contractor courses will receive certificates of completion. You will be able to immediately download your certificate once you complete a course.
Do I need to provide my certificate to the BCC to prove that I completed my continuing education when I renew my license?
No documentation needs to be sent to LARA, the Bureau of Construction Codes or the Residential Builders’ and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors’ Board. You will state that you have fulfilled the continuing competency requirement at the time of license renewal. You should keep your certificates of completion for at least 5 years, as they may be requested if you are selected for an audit.
Can I take this course on my phone?
Yes, our courses are mobile compatible. You can finish your continuing education with ease using your phone, tablet, or computer.
Do you renew my Michigan license for me?
No. Completing your continuing education credits does not complete the renewal of your license. Once you have completed all of your required continuing education, you must pay the MI Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs the license renewal fees, as we cannot do that for you.
